I had a good hour long entry about all that happened in today’s game…it got deleted when my internet hosed up. I love technology. The draft was apparently corrupted as well, so I got nothing now. Hence, abbreviated Diamond Notes…

Diamond Notes:

- Giants roll today to the tune of 6-2 over the hated Dodgers at Camelback Ranch. I don’t know what’s better getting on a plane to SF with a W, or sending the Dodgers back to LA with an L. Six and half dozen I guess.

- Padilla started for the Dodgers and if he is their #1 they got a sorry rotation. He only lasted 3IP today and I couldn’t tell if he was gassed or if they just pulled him. This is mostly because the guy is a “sweat hog.” He looked like he came out of a sauna just walking to the mound before he even threw one pitch. I feel for Torre trying to manage his stamina. He looks the same at the end of 8 as he did during BP, dripping. At least the Gatorade is getting some love whenever they get a close up of him. Towel wiping head at all times.

- Giants fan favorite Russ Ortiz came in to relieve Padilla and did a great job of keeping them in this game. His only blemish was a shot from Juan Uribe, and yes, it did come with “Jazz Hands.”

My wife and I have had the pleasure of meeting Russ and have been rooting for him all spring. He ends the Cactus League with a 2.50 ERA.

- Horatio Ramirez was dealing as well striking out the side, consecutively. the first inning had Furcal, “Suck It,” and Manny go down swinging. That was simply heaven.

You may recall Horatio in the night game versus the Royals. He pitched in relief and was impressive then as well. Perhaps you may want to keep tabs on him.

- A delayed double steal just to rub the Dodgers nose in it? Why yes of course! With 2 outs and runners on the corners, Velez breaks from 1B on a pitch. The second Knoedler (sound familiar) releases the ball to 2B, Matt Downs breaks for home. With 2 outs why not? Both runners are safe, and the Giants put up another run on the state of the art CBR scoreboard.

- Tim Lincecum pitched today in the AAA game at Papago park against the A’s. Check the beat writers for his line, as I couldn’t be in 2 places at once. My Jordan Megenhardt did travel to shoot that game though and supplied me with a couple shots for you. He is also a great baseball photographer, check out his site jordanmegenhardt.com when you get a chance.

- In closing, my last photo of the 2010 Giants Spring Training was perfectly framed shot of Ryan Rohlinger charging a grounder down the 3B line and flinging it to 1B to get the final out of the Cactus League. Guess what, the Dodgers hitter ran right in to my shot at the exact moment I snapped the photo. So you get a blurred Dodger instead of the awesome that should have been. Classic Dodger move….

- Remember we still have many more MiLB ST games to cover over through the end of the week, so come back to see Bumgarner, Wheeler, Neal, Kieschnick, Noonan, Ford, Gillaspie, and all the other top prospects in the system showcase their stuff before the travel across the country.
