Giants fall 10-3 to the Reds in game 1 of the day/night double header.

Diamond Notes:

- Jonathan Sanchez had his longest outing of the Spring going 6.1 IP. He kept the walks down and only allowed 1ER. This is the Sanchez we need to see more often. We were losing when he was lifted, but Renteria hit a solo shot to tie the game at 3 in the top of the 8th.

- The usually trusty relievers were all but in 8th inning. Affeldt and Medders got torched to the tune of 7 runs in that frame. It was an interesting sequence though as there was ball after ball hit down that line and ruled fair.

Affeldt gave up the eventual winning run on a bunt that he opted to go to 3B with. He had to hurry and threw the ball wide of 3B on the crowd side and the throw was too far out of Biery’s reach to keep in play. The next play a ball was hit sharply down the third base line and Biery couldn’t snag it with a diving attempt.

Medders came in to hopefully limit the damage but he got “chalked” to death. The first double was high down the 3B line and seemed to be foul. I fell in right inside the line and was ruled fair. The weird thing is the exact same play happened to the next batter down the LF line. After those 2 flukey gifts, Brandon surrendered a HR and the floodgates were opened.

- Pablo made some great plays today, including stabbing a liner and doubling up the runner on second.

- Because it was a doubleheader (technically SS) some new faces were brought up to fill out the rosters. Drew Biery, Brock Bond, and Brandon Belt all got a chance to play in MLB ST today.
