Back to back wins is always a great thing to write about. Today the Scorpions beat the division leading Desert Dogs 8-4 @ Phoenix Muni. A great way to close out the week before heading into the All Star break (Which is only one extra day for players not selected).

* Donnie Veal has been absolutley legit from what I’ve seen. He goes 4IP, 3H, 1ER, 5K’s, he’s a nasty lefty that Sabean should have got packaged with Sanchez for Alderson. This guy is going to be great in the NL and I can see him making their opening day roster no problem, especially with what little they have in Pittsburgh already. He’s 3-0 with a .54ERA in the AFL as a starter in a hitters paradise.

Is he on the AFL Rising Stars roster? …no. There is no explanation for this. He should at least be added, since 3 pitchers can’t participate.

* Willin Rosario goes back to back games with a big fly. This one to deep left over the “Hit One Here - Easy Street” advertisement. I was on the 1B at the time he launched it, and the Phoenix dugout was not happy. I guess they thought he watched it a little too long in the batter’s box before rounding the bases. Well, we all know what happens the next time he’s up to bat. On a 3-0 count Ray drills him in the thigh. I knew it was coming just because I heard how pissed the Phoenix players were. Ray gets tossed.

* Neal was the only Giants position player in the game, once again at 1B. I gotta ask him if it’s just to give Allen a couple days off or if the Giants have asked him to be put there for an actual look which would be interesting. Also, he was batting clean up, 2-5, 2B, RBI.

* Turpen and Edlefsen took care of the 7th and 8th each with perfect innings.

* It was severely overcast today, and though a lot of photographers prefer it this way to eliminate shadows, I actually hate it. I prefer a lot of sun and like the shadows in the shots as it gives the photo a slightly rugged look and shows all the grit of the infield dirt. That said, there aren’t a whole lot of unique shots in this set but have a look. The color is really off and terrible but I don’t have time to color correct all of them.
