Bad News:
Unfortunately, another day, another loss for the Scorpions.
Good News:
Everyone else in the division lost as well so the standings remain the same.
The Scorpions really didn’t have that bad of a game considering only 3 runs were allowed. The bats were just not there today. A combined 5 hits and going 0-5 with RISP halts production. They finally got to Daley in the bottom of the ninth but with the bases loaded Rosario struck out and Allen hit a deep fly to LF to end the game.
Diamond Notes:
* Brandon Crawford started the game at 3rd once again. I think he has only started one or two games at his natural position of SS. It kills me that this team has 6 SS on the roster. It means players like Brandon, who to my knowledge, has never played 3rd in college or in his pro career, gets placed there the majority of the time because the Scorpions don’t have one.
The reason I bring this up is he was credited with another error on a throw today. I think I recall the throw that had Brandon Allen come of the bag, it may be another though. Regardless, moving from short to 3rd doesn’t seem like an easy transition to me. Brandon has done great so far, just wish they would actually let him play his regular position. BTW, the corner is most definitely hot, as Brandon did a great job of saving a run by diving and stopping a ball destined for the LF corner.
* Daniel Turpen came in to pitch 2 innings of relief giving up 2H, ER, 2K. Steve Edlefsen pitched an inning H, BB, 0ER, 1K. One thing to note is Steve induced another double play. I haven’t really dug into the boxes but I swear every time he pitches it’s like he gets a DP, or maybe it’s just me.
* I spoke with Thomas Neal about his hand and he said it wasn’t that bad and he should be ready to get back in the lineup tomorrow.
* Tuffy Gosewisch got the start at catcher today as Posey got a day off. He went 1-3 but he squares up the ball nicely, couple loud outs. Plus his name is Tuffy, need I say more.
