Sometimes it’s like the regular season never ended. This Scorpions team is reminding me of the SF Giants more and more… losing games to teams they should beat. The Javelinas are a good team, and actually lead the Western division, however when you have a 4 run lead you would hope it could be protected. The bullpen came in and got lit up once again after a decent effort from Mike Cisco. Not much in way of highlights for this one, other than a 9th inning rally that was 1 run short.
Diamond Notes:
* As stated in the title, Buster Posey was back in the lineup behind the dish. He did have 2BB’s but went 0-3 with 2SO’s. He did fight off some pitches to stay alive, and if I recall, worked the count full a couple times. Defensively, he had a passed ball.
For some reason Posey isn’t looking the most comfortable at the plate to me. Like he’s got the slump in his head or something. Either way, I think it’s time to try something different. I’m telling you, move him down the batting order a couple spots and I think he will have better AB’s. He was in the 5 hole again tonight. Maybe Sabean gave Banister strict orders to have him hit there for learning purposes?
* The only other Giant in the lineup was Brandon Crawford who had a great night at the plate. He only went 1-2 but with 2BB’s and 3R’s, count’s were worked to his advantage. Also had a sac fly to score Buster.
