The Scorpions have a night game in Scottsdale tonight but I won’t be able to attend. Instead, I am going to catch a couple innings of the day game in Peoria. I’m hoping to catch Mike Leake pitch, and Alonso, Heisey, or Heyward in the lineup.

* The AZIL Giants end their instructional season today @ Tempe against the AZIL Angels.

* I will return to the Scorpions tomorrow as they face the Mesa Solar Sox @ Hohokam.

UPDATE: I will cover the Javelinas V Desert Dogs tomorrow instead… Strasburg 2.0. All 3 Giants position players are in the lineup tonight, with a day game after a night game it’s too much of a gamble for me to drive across town to Mesa. Javelinas @ Scottsdale on Friday night.

* Tim Lincecum was just named the NL Pitcher of the year by Sporting News. The article has a quote by Russ Ortiz, who ironically, Tim replaced in the rotation.

* Hank Schulman also just wrote a great piece on Tim’s ascension and the financial impact that had on his arbitration case.

UPDATE: Heisey is tearing it up…4/5 1B, 2-2B, 3B - So far .571 clip in the AFL.
